MeetFactory is a non-profit international center for contemporary art founded in 2001 by the artist David Černý. In the wake of the destructive floods of 2002, MeetFactory was forced to evacuate its previous premises in Holešovice. The project was resurrected three years later in an industrial building in Prague's quarter Smíchov, in a unique space squeezed between a motorway and an active railroad. The program started after a substantial reconstruction in 2007.
The program of MeetFactory consists in four dramaturgic departments - music, theatre, gallery and the artist-in-residence program.
The music program presents the international independent music scene, holding six to eight performances per month in the music hall fitted with high-end audio equipment.
The theatre program focuses on contemporary prose, as well as experimental interdisciplinary projects, often involving visual artists, musicians, or non-actors.
The three galleries offer space for critical confrontation of the national and international art scenes. The MeetFactory Gallery focuses on original curatorial projects, while the Kostka Gallery presents solo shows of emerging and established artists. The program of the Wall Gallery, a side-facade of the building, comprises of large-scale realizations beyond street art.
The international Artist-in-Residence program is the largest studio program in the Czech Republic. MeetFactory facilitates fifteen studios, which annually host over thirty visual artists, curators, musicians, theatre directors or writers. We foster the involvement of our artists in residence not only within the programming of MeetFactory, but also in the context of the Czech and Central European art scenes.
Besides the four dramaturgic departments the program of MeetFactory is oriented on inter-genre and educational projects which offer the public new forms of encounter with contemporary art.

The largest area of the Municipal House is the central Smetana Hall, accessible from the foyer on the first floor. By naming the concert hall, Prague paid tribute to the creator of Czech modern music, Bedřich Smetana. Of the plastic decoration, the most remarkable are the stucco groups Vyšehrad and Slavonic Dances on the sides of the stage by Ladislav Šaloun. The sculptor thus happily solved the question of commemorating the second genius of Czech music, Antonín Dvořák. To Smetana's Vyšehrad from the cycle of symphonic poems My Homeland, the character of the legendary Lumír, accompanied by a harp, narrates the myth of the homeland, while the opposite dancing couple is a motif taken from Dvořák's Slavonic Dances. In the interior of the Smetana Hall, however, there is a reminder of other Czech composers, whose portrait medallions are located on the bust of the lodges and the balcony.

Paintings of the ceiling panels and wall paintings by Karel Špilar contribute to the overall airy and at the same time festive impression of the space. Especially the monumental murals Music, Poetry, Dance and Drama are among the author's best works ever.

Smetana's Hall is primarily a concert hall for 1,200 listeners, in which since its opening the world's most important ensembles and performers have performed, and occasionally various social events take place here - especially traditional balls or popular representative gala dinners. The Prague Spring music festival is regularly opened and closed in the Smetana Hall.

This is one of the top ten jazz clubs in the Czech Republic. A revolutionary music and theater scene. A cultural monument, the oldest of its kind in Central Europe. And above all, a place where you will have an unforgettable musical experience amongst fantastic musicians, presidents, and other top public figures.

Since its foundation in 1957, the club has been the main home of jazz throughout the Czech Republic. But it did not achieve real world renown until after the Velvet Revolution, under the auspices of Pragokoncert Bohemia, a leading art agency, which made one of the three oldest Central European clubs world-class and introduced the club to an international audience and the art community.

One of the oldest and best known music clubs in Prague, concerts daily

Cult considered pragues club Rock Cafe was from its beginning tightly bound with artist society called New Horizon. This voluntary association had been founded by Jaroslav Zajpt, acting like a chairman, followed by V.Chrenovsky, J.Rauser, R.Skokan, P.Zvolensky, J.Simecek, D.Sustr a J.Vondracek, who were members of coordination board. On the 5th of Janaury 1990 came out the statement of the society and on 22nd took place the general meeting wich set up New Horizon as legally registred agency. Its main goal have been to gather different sorts of artistsand provide them with manager and legal help. Last but not least it have also supported beginning artist groups and interpreters.
Among those related bands were groups like Ticha dohoda, Mercedes, Toyen, Jizní pol etc.
Sampler of the related bands was relased under patronage of New Horizon.
Author of the Rock Café logo – “The Angel of Rock”- is respected artist, Martin Palka, who cooperates for example with Rudoflinum gallery.
Nowadays Rock Café, still owned by New Horizon ltd.,(contemporary company owners are Pavel Svoboda and ing.Michal Panek), one of the most significant and crowded clubs in Prague. Its advantages are placement in the city centre (Narodní 20, 110 00 Praha 1) and its ability to support different kinds of artist events.
Like many pragues clubs Rock Cafe have been recently dealing with the noise problems and therefore all shows had to end before 10 p.m. Nontheless all adjustments of the basement of the clubs are done by now, thanks to the kindness and financial support of the local authority of Prague 1. The reconstruction intoduced the brand new music stage, basement of the club and recently bulit gallery.
The reconsturction brought many inprovements from wich benefits the bands along with the visitors of the club. Most of them will aprecciate not only extended hours, but also the new sound and lighting system, powerful air condition system and original design of the new interior. The new bar right at the auditorium and in the chill out zone, where projections of the shows in progress are possible, also conturbitues to satisfaction of the guests. Another advantege is also the enlarged capacity of the club, wich allows bigger crowd to enjoy the show.
Another interesting venue is built from the former music stage. This allows many new opportunites for the alternative genres like theaters (some of the ensembles are already performing at Rock Cafe) experimental performances, evenings of literature and projections of interesting movies. This allows Rock Café to widen its range and became a truly multicultural venue.

After three years at the Občanská plovárna where it hosted prominent local as well as international jazz personalities including as part of the PRAGUE PROMS festival, the mobile jazz club has moved house to the CNSO studios in Hostivař.
The Czech National Symphony Orchestra Hostivař studios were set up in 2002 when the common space of the waterworks took on a new life as the Studio Gallery. The bottom part of the building has waited patiently until this year for a cinema space which has managed to tastefully preserve its 1980s décor.
During the spring of this year, the space transformed into a stylish jazz club boasting outstanding acoustics and oozing atmosphere. The direct linking up to production will make it possible to record concerts live, while a wide array of drinks will be available at its stylish bar decorated in end of the 20th century optimistic hues. The Loop Jazz Club is being resurrected, on this occasion at the “home” studios of the CNSO.
The grand launch is set for 1st July opening with the Jazz of the 60s concert, commemorating the modern big band era and being held as part of the PRAGUE PROMS international musical festival.
