Unique place for underground music and art.

Club actually began in 1969! Since that it always was and is a place for underground music and activities - strictly. Until 1987 of course the students were taking care of the club and of course with many problems, due to heavy communist era. Different independent folk, jazz, new wave, acoustic music, "discos" etc. were happening here. The place survived very complicated times and during the velvet revolution it was important meeting point for all kinds of discussions, chats and readings. After 1989 punk and hardcore generation took place in writing history of this special space. Borders were finally open and many foreign bands went on. Since now, hundreds of bands and artists played and performed, from punk, rock, hardcore over ska, reggae, jungle, electro to folk, acoustic music, indie, new wave etc. Many promoters during this period was hard-working organizing and taking care of the bands. Thanx them and thanx the club crew - 007 still rocks!

Official owner is ČVUT, student association, which administrates the whole campus. Recent operator Ivo Kucera is renting the verge since early 90ties, the contract is reconditioned every year, usually without any complication. He is the heart of the club, working and working as nobody can imagine. Without him, the club would be probably long time gone. All the working crew is at 007 club like "at home", living for this place. As many club´s friends and helpers. This is the special atmosphere, the special energy, the special family thing about Klub 007 Strahov. The community is very strong and it is kind of changing througout different time periods, but the soul remains. Supporting independent live music and acts, strictly anti-main-stream, mostly D.I.Y. The club was never touched by techno, house, rave "discos" and maybe thanx this, was never "contaminated" by chemical drugs. Huge hard core scene boom was in 90´s, also ska community found its home there, straight edge crew as well, punk rockers and psychobilly crowd loves 007, indie music fans come often, live-electro music and also hip hop Saturday´s parties were for years big and greatly visited classic. Music diversity is basic 007 domain.

The sensitive incorporation into the construction of the historic gas tank turned this industrial building into an unusual multifunctional center. University students learn here, international conferences and congresses are organized, there are also workshops, staff training, concerts or exhibitions of artists.
